Description

A quick and delicious dish featuring a creamy sauce with smoked sausage and vibrant Cajun spices, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 g) penne or rigatoni pasta
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 12 oz (340 g) smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions, adding a pinch of salt. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in Cajun seasoning and paprika. Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and sauce thickens.
  6. Return sausage and pasta to the skillet, tossing until coated with the sauce.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or use spicy sausage. Feel free to include more vegetables for added nutrition.
