Description

A warm and sweet side dish featuring mashed sweet potatoes, tart cranberries, and fresh orange zest, perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, cranberries, orange zest, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange juice, and salt. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and smooth the top.
  4. If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until heated through and slightly golden on top.
  6. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

For a richer finish, add a touch of melted butter over the top before baking. For extra crunch, mix a little brown sugar with the nuts before sprinkling on top.
