Description
A comforting pressure cooker dish featuring juicy hamburger steaks topped with creamy gravy, perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- Start by mixing the ground beef, egg, Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, milk, seasoned salt, onion powder, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Combine all the ingredients well until fully blended.
- Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 burger patties. Make sure they are of even thickness for even cooking.
- Turn your pressure cooker to the sauté setting and melt the butter. Add the sliced onion and cook until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes.
- Next, add the flour to the onion and stir well to create a roux. Cook for another 2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring this mixture to a simmer.
- Carefully place the hamburger patties in the pressure cooker. Close the lid securely and set the pressure cooker to cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
- Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then carefully do a quick release for any remaining pressure.
- Open the lid and check the internal temperature of the patties. They should reach at least 160°F (71°C) for safe consumption.
- Remove the hamburger steaks from the cooker and let them rest for a few minutes. You can strain the sauce if desired before serving.
- Serve your delicious Cracker Barrel Hamburger Steak with the sauce poured over the top.
Notes
Allow the dish to cool before storing; it will last for up to 3 days in the fridge, or freeze for up to 3 months.
