Description

A comforting pressure cooker dish featuring juicy hamburger steaks topped with creamy gravy, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

  1. Start by mixing the ground beef, egg, Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, milk, seasoned salt, onion powder, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Combine all the ingredients well until fully blended.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 burger patties. Make sure they are of even thickness for even cooking.
  3. Turn your pressure cooker to the sauté setting and melt the butter. Add the sliced onion and cook until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes.
  4. Next, add the flour to the onion and stir well to create a roux. Cook for another 2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring this mixture to a simmer.
  6. Carefully place the hamburger patties in the pressure cooker. Close the lid securely and set the pressure cooker to cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
  7. Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then carefully do a quick release for any remaining pressure.
  8. Open the lid and check the internal temperature of the patties. They should reach at least 160°F (71°C) for safe consumption.
  9. Remove the hamburger steaks from the cooker and let them rest for a few minutes. You can strain the sauce if desired before serving.
  10. Serve your delicious Cracker Barrel Hamburger Steak with the sauce poured over the top.

Notes

Allow the dish to cool before storing; it will last for up to 3 days in the fridge, or freeze for up to 3 months.
