- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 4 cups vegetable broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 loaf of artisanal bread
- 8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- Unsalted butter, softened, for spreading on bread
- 1 package (17.5 ounces) refrigerated cinnamon roll dough
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (or heavy cream)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, dried basil, and oregano. Bring to a gentle simmer for at least 20 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Use an immersion blender to purée the soup until smooth. Stir in heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese, heating gently until warmed through.
- Butter one side of bread slices. Place shredded cheddar cheese on the unbuttered side, top with another slice, and grill until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Cut the grilled cheese into mini heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
- Bake cinnamon rolls according to package instructions until golden brown. Whisk powdered sugar with milk to prepare icing; drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.
- Serve mini cups of tomato soup alongside heart-shaped grilled cheese on a wooden tray with cinnamon rolls on a platter.
Notes
For a creamier texture, add more cream or use full-fat yogurt. Taste the soup before serving and adjust seasoning as needed.
