Description

Delicious and festive recipes perfect for a winter baby shower, featuring creamy tomato soup, heart-shaped grilled cheese sandwiches, and sweet cinnamon rolls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 loaf of artisanal bread
  • 8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • Unsalted butter, softened, for spreading on bread
  • 1 package (17.5 ounces) refrigerated cinnamon roll dough
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (or heavy cream)

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, dried basil, and oregano. Bring to a gentle simmer for at least 20 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Use an immersion blender to purée the soup until smooth. Stir in heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese, heating gently until warmed through.
  4. Butter one side of bread slices. Place shredded cheddar cheese on the unbuttered side, top with another slice, and grill until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  5. Cut the grilled cheese into mini heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
  6. Bake cinnamon rolls according to package instructions until golden brown. Whisk powdered sugar with milk to prepare icing; drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.
  7. Serve mini cups of tomato soup alongside heart-shaped grilled cheese on a wooden tray with cinnamon rolls on a platter.

Notes

For a creamier texture, add more cream or use full-fat yogurt. Taste the soup before serving and adjust seasoning as needed.
