Description

A classic comfort dish featuring layers of ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the soup mixture.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  9. In a small bowl, combine crushed cornflakes with melted butter and sprinkle over the cheese layer.
  10. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.

Notes

Let the casserole cool down before storing leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
