A delicious homemade version of the classic York Peppermint Patties, combining a minty center with a rich chocolate coating.

- â…“ cup butter (softened)
- 4 or 5 drops peppermint extract
- 8 ounces dark chocolate
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
Instructions
- Sift the powdered sugar into a bowl to prevent clumps.
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix sifted powdered sugar, corn syrup, softened butter, and peppermint extract until smooth.
- Roll the mixture into bite-sized balls and flatten to form discs.
- Refrigerate the shaped patties for about 20 minutes.
- Use a double boiler to melt the dark chocolate with vegetable shortening until smooth.
- Dip each chilled patty into the melted chocolate to coat, then set on a silicone mat or waxed paper to harden.
- Store the chocolate-coated patties in an airtight container in a cool place.
