Description

A delicious homemade version of the classic York Peppermint Patties, combining a minty center with a rich chocolate coating.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • â…“ cup corn syrup
  • â…“ cup butter (softened)
  • 4 or 5 drops peppermint extract
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

Instructions

  1. Sift the powdered sugar into a bowl to prevent clumps.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, mix sifted powdered sugar, corn syrup, softened butter, and peppermint extract until smooth.
  3. Roll the mixture into bite-sized balls and flatten to form discs.
  4. Refrigerate the shaped patties for about 20 minutes.
  5. Use a double boiler to melt the dark chocolate with vegetable shortening until smooth.
  6. Dip each chilled patty into the melted chocolate to coat, then set on a silicone mat or waxed paper to harden.
  7. Store the chocolate-coated patties in an airtight container in a cool place.
