Description

Deliciously fluffy buns filled with crushed Oreo cookies, perfect for any sweet occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, warm the milk until it’s just lukewarm. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Combine the ingredients: Once the yeast is activated, add it to the wet mixture. Mix well.
  4. Add the dry ingredients: Gradually add in the flour and a pinch of salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  6. Let it rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  7. Shape the buns: After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and add a spoonful of crushed Oreo cookies in the center. Gather the edges and seal them. Shape each piece into a ball.
  8. Second rise: Place the dough balls on a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  10. Cool & serve: Once they are out of the oven, let the buns cool on a wire rack. Enjoy your cookies and cream buns warm or at room temperature!

Notes
