Description

Tender and flavorful beef cutlets reminiscent of your favorite diner, easy to make at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ pounds ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1–2 tablespoons vegetable oil (as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, egg, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Using a 3-tablespoon scoop or spoon, portion the mixture and shape it into oval patties.
  3. Roll each cutlet in the breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure they are evenly coated on all sides.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add vegetable oil and butter, allowing the butter to melt and foam slightly.
  5. Place the cutlets in the skillet, leaving space between them. Cover with a lid and cook for about 5 minutes per side until they develop a golden crust and are cooked through.
  6. Remove the cutlets from the pan and serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the cutlets with different seasonings or types of meat.
