- 1½ pounds ground beef (85% lean)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1–2 tablespoons vegetable oil (as needed)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, egg, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Using a 3-tablespoon scoop or spoon, portion the mixture and shape it into oval patties.
- Roll each cutlet in the breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure they are evenly coated on all sides.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add vegetable oil and butter, allowing the butter to melt and foam slightly.
- Place the cutlets in the skillet, leaving space between them. Cover with a lid and cook for about 5 minutes per side until they develop a golden crust and are cooked through.
- Remove the cutlets from the pan and serve warm.
