- 2 1/2 lb granny smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (about 6 to 7 cups)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp cornstarch or all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped Granny Smith apples, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon. Mix gently until the apples are well coated.
- In another bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a baking dish, spread the apple mixture evenly. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples, covering them completely.
- Bake in your preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
- Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
Store covered at room temperature for 1-2 days or in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
