Description

A deliciously sweet twist on classic French toast that combines the flavors of cinnamon rolls with the eggy goodness of traditional breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices thick, soft bread, crusts removed
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  2. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture on four slices of bread, then top with the remaining four slices to create sandwiches.
  3. In a shallow dish, mix the granulated sugar, remaining ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until blended.
  4. In another shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture for 20-30 seconds on each side.
  5. Coat each sandwich in the cinnamon sugar mixture and cook in a skillet with melted butter over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Serve immediately, drizzled with maple syrup or topped with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

For an extra treat, serve with fresh berries or a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top.
