- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Mix the softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Mix the ground cinnamon and brown sugar in a small bowl.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared dish and sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it.
- Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon-sugar layer.
- Use a knife to create gentle swirls through the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and enough milk to reach a smooth consistency.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake before slicing and serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider incorporating chocolate chips, nuts, or fresh fruit into the batter.
