Description

A delightful combination of crunchy saltine crackers topped with rich toffee, smooth chocolate, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve (about 40) Saltine Crackers
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer over the parchment paper.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until melted and the sugar dissolves completely.
  4. Let the mixture boil for 3 to 5 minutes until it thickens and turns a caramel color.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  6. Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the arranged saltine crackers and use a spatula to spread it gently.
  7. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes until bubbly and slightly darker around the edges.
  8. Remove from oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee, letting it sit for 5 minutes until the chocolate softens.
  9. Spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.
  10. Mix the granulated sugar and remaining ground cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle over the chocolate layer.
  11. Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes.
  12. Once firm, lift the parchment paper and break the toffee into irregular pieces.

Notes

Ensure to store in an airtight container with parchment paper to maintain crispness.
