Description

Beautiful and delightful meringues shaped like Christmas trees, perfect for festive gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Green food coloring (gel or liquid)
  • Decorative sprinkles (edible stars, silver balls, etc.)
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the egg whites on medium speed until foamy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the granulated sugar, a tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat the egg whites until glossy and stiff peaks form, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract to combine evenly.
  6. Divide the meringue into two bowls; leave one plain and add green food coloring to the other.
  7. Transfer the plain meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip, and repeat with the green meringue.
  8. Pipe small swirls starting from the base, building up in layers to form a tree shape. Use the plain meringue for the tree trunk and branches, and green for the leaves.
  9. Sprinkle decorative sprinkles on top of the piped meringue trees.
  10. Bake for about 2 hours or until dry and easily lift off the parchment. Let them cool completely inside the oven.

Notes

Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness. Best consumed within a week.
