- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 4 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Green food coloring
- Buttercream frosting (for filling)
- Decorative sprinkles (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar until well combined.
- Beat the egg whites until foamy, gradually adding the granulated sugar and continuing until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites, adding vanilla, almond extracts, and green food coloring as desired.
- Pipe the batter onto the prepared sheets in the shape of Christmas trees.
- Let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes to form a skin.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until they lift easily from the parchment. Cool on a wire rack.
- Fill cooled macarons with buttercream frosting and decorate with sprinkles.
