Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate cake cubes (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries (optional)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cherry juice (optional)
  • 1/4 cup shaved dark chocolate for topping

Instructions

  1. Bake or cube your chocolate cake. Let it cool completely.
  2. Optional: Drizzle cherry juice lightly over the cake cubes.
  3. Mix the cherry pie filling with fresh cherries for texture and set aside to cool.
  4. In a large bowl, beat heavy cream, mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  5. Chill for 10 minutes before layering.
  6. Add a layer of cake cubes at the bottom of a glass trifle bowl.
  7. Spoon over a layer of cherry filling.
  8. Add whipped cream on top and smooth evenly.
  9. Repeat until the bowl is full, finishing with cream.
  10. Sprinkle shaved chocolate on top and garnish with extra cherries.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  12. Serve chilled for best texture and flavor.
