- 1 ½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs (about 20–25 cookies)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
- 2 tablespoons orange zest (from about 2 oranges)
- 8 ounces dark chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Grease a 9-inch springform pan and wrap the outside with aluminum foil.
- In a mixing bowl, combine chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter, then press into the bottom of the springform pan.
- Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then let it cool.
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth, around 3-4 minutes.
- Add the vanilla extract, then mix in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add the sour cream, heavy cream, orange juice, orange zest, melted chocolate, and a pinch of salt, mixing until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the cooled crust in the springform pan.
- Prepare a water bath by placing the springform pan in a larger dish filled with hot water halfway up the sides.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes until the edges are set with a slightly jiggly center.
- Turn off the oven and let the cheesecake cool in the oven for 1 hour.
- Remove the cheesecake from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Remove the sides of the springform pan, slice, and garnish as desired.
Notes
Serve with whipped cream, fresh orange slices, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
