Description

Delicious truffles combining rich chocolate with the sweet, earthy flavors of figs and spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/8 cup crystallized ginger (or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • 2 cups dried figs, stems removed
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Line a tray with parchment paper for chilling.
  2. In a food processor, combine dried figs, crystallized ginger, honey, orange zest, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Pulse until thick and sticky.
  3. Melt chocolate chips gently in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or microwave in 15-second intervals until smooth.
  4. Add melted chocolate to the fig mixture and pulse until fully blended.
  5. Chill mixture for 15 minutes, then scoop and roll into small truffle-sized balls.
  6. Roll truffles in cocoa powder, crushed nuts, or leave plain for a glossy finish.
  7. Store in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to serve.

Notes

Make sure to chill the mixture thoroughly for easier shaping.
