Description

Delightful chocolate choux pastry buns that are light, airy, and perfect for filling with your favorite creams or enjoying on their own.


Ingredients

  • 60 ml water
  • 30 g butter
  • 35 g flour
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Heat over medium until boiling and butter is melted.
  3. Remove from heat and add flour and cocoa powder, mixing vigorously until a dough forms.
  4. Return to low heat for 1-2 minutes to dry the dough slightly.
  5. Transfer dough to a bowl to cool for a couple of minutes.
  6. Gradually stir in the egg until the mixture is smooth and shiny.
  7. Pipe or spoon small mounds of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and firm to touch.
  9. Turn off the oven, crack the door, and let buns rest for 5 minutes.
  10. Cool completely before dusting with cocoa powder or filling.
