Deliciously rich Chocolate Chip Banana Bars made with ripe bananas and chocolate chips, perfect for dessert or snacks.
Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon fine salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup mashed overripe bananas (about 2 large)
- ¾ cup chocolate chips, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar together until pale and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Gradually mix in the flour until no longer visible.
- Gently fold in the mashed bananas and chocolate chips, saving a few for topping.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top. Bake for 33–37 minutes, rotating halfway through.
- Allow to cool completely before slicing into 16 squares.
Notes
Using very ripe bananas will yield the best flavor. Do not over-mix the batter to keep bars tender.
