Description

Deliciously rich Chocolate Chip Banana Bars made with ripe bananas and chocolate chips, perfect for dessert or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup mashed overripe bananas (about 2 large)
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar together until pale and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour until no longer visible.
  5. Gently fold in the mashed bananas and chocolate chips, saving a few for topping.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top. Bake for 33–37 minutes, rotating halfway through.
  7. Allow to cool completely before slicing into 16 squares.

Notes

Using very ripe bananas will yield the best flavor. Do not over-mix the batter to keep bars tender.
