- 1 lb boneless chicken breast
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
- 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
- Set up a breading station: whisk eggs in one bowl and mix cornstarch and flour in another.
- Dip each piece of chicken in beaten eggs, then coat well in the flour and cornstarch mixture.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry chicken in batches for 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain fried chicken on paper towels.
- Prepare the sauce: in a saucepan, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, garlic, and sesame oil. Add cornstarch slurry, simmer until thickened.
- In a clean skillet, toss the fried chicken with the sauce to coat evenly.
- Top with toasted sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
Notes
Serve with steamed rice, noodles, or a side of vegetables for a complete meal. Adjust sweetness of the sauce according to taste.
