Ingredients

  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 1 pound chicken sausage, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and sauté for 5 to 7 minutes until golden.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the broccoli florets and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Stir in orzo, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the orzo is tender.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese until well blended. Serve hot topped with freshly chopped parsley.
