Description

A comforting classic dish that combines tender chicken, flavorful broth, and soft dumplings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken, shredded
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat. Add the shredded chicken, onion, celery, and carrots. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and egg. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture into the simmering broth. Cover and cook for about 15 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
  5. Serve warm for a comforting meal.

Notes

Don’t overmix the dumpling batter and use fresh ingredients for better flavor.
