Description
A delightful dish combining crispy broccoli fritters with cheese, perfect for a healthy snack or side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets (chopped)
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
- Dipping sauce (optional: ranch or yogurt-based)
Instructions
- Steam the chopped broccoli for about 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender.
- In a large bowl, combine the steamed broccoli and shredded cheese, mashing slightly for texture.
- Add the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, stirring until well combined.
- Crack the eggs into the mixture and mix until the batter is smooth, adjusting seasoning if necessary.
- Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Scoop about 1/4 cup of batter per fritter onto the skillet, flatten slightly, and fry for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer cooked fritters to paper towels to absorb excess oil and serve immediately with dipping sauce.
Notes
For optimal texture, do not overcook the broccoli. Using room temperature eggs helps create a smoother batter.
