Description

A hearty and comforting cobbler with savory ground beef and a cheesy topping, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and fold in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, milk, and melted butter; stir until just combined.
  7. Layer the ground beef mixture into a greased baking dish and spread the topping evenly over it.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the beef and over-mixing the topping.
