Description

A unique twist on classic deviled eggs, these Cajun Style Fried Deviled Eggs feature a crunchy Panko coating and a creamy filling, perfect as an appetizer or party snack.


Ingredients

  • 6 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon gumbo file
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • Smoked paprika for garnish
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the hard-boiled eggs in half and remove the yolks.
  2. Mash the yolks in a mixing bowl and combine with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pipe or spoon the filling back into the egg white halves.
  4. Mix Panko breadcrumbs with gumbo file, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
  5. Carefully coat each filled egg half in the Panko mixture.
  6. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the coated eggs until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oil and sprinkle with smoked paprika before serving.

Notes

Use eggs that are at least a week old for easier peeling. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
