Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add the vanilla extract and mix until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix on low speed until just combined.
- If using nuts, fold them into the dough until evenly distributed.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and roll into balls, placing them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes until the bottoms are lightly golden and the tops remain pale.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes.
- Dust with powdered sugar while still warm, then cool completely on a wire rack and dust again if desired.
