- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk, until all is combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans.
- Pour equal amounts of batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Layer the cakes and drizzle caramel sauce between each layer and on top of the cake.
- Garnish with additional pecans and serve.
