- 1 cup black cocoa powder

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs

- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup blackberry compote (for filling)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Sift together the flour, black cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy in another bowl.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, until well combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, spread the blackberry compote between the layers of cake. Dust the top lightly with powdered sugar before serving.
