Description
A hearty casserole combining flaky biscuits, savory sausage, and creamy gravy, topped with melted cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can Refrigerated Buttermilk Biscuits
- 1 lb Ground Breakfast Sausage
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 cups Whole Milk
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- to taste Salt
- to taste Pepper
- 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
- to taste Seasonings (Optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Open the can of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits and cut them into quarters. Place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Heat the cooking oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the ground breakfast sausage and cook it until it’s browned and fully cooked.
- Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir well for about 1 minute. Gradually pour in the whole milk while constantly stirring. Bring this mixture to a simmer until it thickens.
- Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl, and mix in the shredded cheese along with some salt and pepper. Pour this egg mixture over the biscuit pieces in the baking dish.
- Pour the sausage gravy directly over the biscuit and egg mixture, ensuring even distribution.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden on top and the eggs are fully cooked.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and then serve warm.
Notes
For a lighter option, consider using turkey sausage instead of ground breakfast sausage. You can also use pepper jack cheese for an extra kick.
