Description

A hearty casserole combining flaky biscuits, savory sausage, and creamy gravy, topped with melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can Refrigerated Buttermilk Biscuits
  • 1 lb Ground Breakfast Sausage
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • to taste Seasonings (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Open the can of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits and cut them into quarters. Place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Heat the cooking oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the ground breakfast sausage and cook it until it’s browned and fully cooked.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir well for about 1 minute. Gradually pour in the whole milk while constantly stirring. Bring this mixture to a simmer until it thickens.
  4. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl, and mix in the shredded cheese along with some salt and pepper. Pour this egg mixture over the biscuit pieces in the baking dish.
  5. Pour the sausage gravy directly over the biscuit and egg mixture, ensuring even distribution.
  6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden on top and the eggs are fully cooked.
  7. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and then serve warm.

Notes

For a lighter option, consider using turkey sausage instead of ground breakfast sausage. You can also use pepper jack cheese for an extra kick.
