Description

Easy to make and fun to share, these dipping breads are perfect for any occasion, allowing for a variety of sauces and spreads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Additional herbs (rosemary, thyme, or garlic) for flavoring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the frothy yeast mixture along with olive oil.
  3. Knead the dough: Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape the bread: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Divide it into equal portions based on your desired bread size. Shape them into small balls or flat rounds.
  6. Second rise: Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake the bread: Bake the breads in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Serve warm with your favorite dips!

Notes

Allow adequate rising time for the best texture. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
