Description
Easy to make and fun to share, these dipping breads are perfect for any occasion, allowing for a variety of sauces and spreads.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Additional herbs (rosemary, thyme, or garlic) for flavoring (optional)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Mix the ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the frothy yeast mixture along with olive oil.
- Knead the dough: Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Shape the bread: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Divide it into equal portions based on your desired bread size. Shape them into small balls or flat rounds.
- Second rise: Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread: Bake the breads in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Serve warm with your favorite dips!
Notes
Allow adequate rising time for the best texture. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
