- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup brewed coffee
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Blend the eggs, brewed coffee, milk, oil, and vanilla in another bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until well combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Beat the softened butter until creamy, gradually add the powdered sugar, and mix until smooth.
- Spread the buttercream on one cake layer, top with the second layer, and frost the top and sides.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
To keep your cake fresh, store it in a covered container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. It can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
