Description

Deliciously soft, chewy chocolate chunk cookies, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  3. Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and creamy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract until everything is smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a soft dough forms.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chunks and nuts if you’re using them. Cover the dough and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop 3 tablespoon portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
  8. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look just set. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
