A delightful twist on classic snickerdoodles, these cookies combine caramelized apples and walnuts for an inviting treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup caramelized apples, chopped
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth in another large bowl.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  5. Blend in the dry mixture gradually.
  6. Fold in the caramelized apples and walnuts.
  7. Roll the dough into balls and then roll in cinnamon sugar.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough and use room temperature butter for better creaming.
