Description

A warm and delicious sandwich that perfectly balances sweet, tart, and creamy flavors, featuring brie cheese, fresh apples, and cranberry sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices sourdough or brioche bread
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter (or coconut oil for vegan)
  • 4 ounces brie cheese (or sharp cheddar, sliced thin)
  • 1 medium apple, cored and thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 2 tablespoons cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Fresh rosemary or cracked pepper (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Thinly slice the apple and pat dry with a paper towel. Spread cranberry sauce on one slice of bread.
  2. Layer the Sandwich: Arrange brie slices over the cranberry layer, followed by apple slices. Add a second layer of cheese to help seal the filling. Top with the second bread slice.
  3. Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on the outer sides of both bread slices, reaching all edges.
  4. Grill to Perfection: Heat a nonstick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-low heat. Place the sandwich in the pan and cook 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is fully melted. For an even melt, cover the pan for the first minute.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from heat, rest for 1 minute, and slice diagonally. Garnish with a sprinkle of rosemary or cracked pepper.

Notes

For a vegan option, use coconut oil instead of butter and a plant-based cheese. Keep the apple slices thin to avoid sogginess.
