- 6 large apples (like Granny Smith, Fuji, or Honeycrisp)
- ¾ cup water

- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- â…” cup milk
- 6 Tablespoons melted and cooled unsalted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the apples by washing, peeling, and slicing them. Set aside.
- In a saucepot, combine water, brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, apple pie spice, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
- Add the sliced apples to the saucepot and simmer for about 4-5 minutes. Set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Transfer the cooked apple mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking powder. Add milk and melted butter, stirring until just combined.
- Spoon the topping evenly over the apples to cover them well.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra decadence.
