- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups milk, divided
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 to 5 Russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then shape into 6 patties.
- Brown the patties in a skillet over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, whisk 1 cup of milk with flour until smooth, then add the remaining milk and cook until thickened.
- Add half of the sliced potatoes to the greased baking dish, followed by half of the sliced onions.
- Arrange the browned patties over the potatoes and onions, then top with the remaining potatoes and onions.
- Pour the creamy gravy over the entire dish, cover with foil, and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
Serve with steamed vegetables or a side salad for a complete meal. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
