Description

A delightful comfort food dish with seasoned ground beef, potatoes, and cheese in a creamy gravy.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups milk, divided
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 to 5 Russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then shape into 6 patties.
  3. Brown the patties in a skillet over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, then set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, whisk 1 cup of milk with flour until smooth, then add the remaining milk and cook until thickened.
  5. Add half of the sliced potatoes to the greased baking dish, followed by half of the sliced onions.
  6. Arrange the browned patties over the potatoes and onions, then top with the remaining potatoes and onions.
  7. Pour the creamy gravy over the entire dish, cover with foil, and bake for 1 hour.
  8. Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Serve with steamed vegetables or a side salad for a complete meal. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
