- 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
- 1 Egg (Beaten)
- 1 Onion (Finely diced)
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
- 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 Onion (Sliced)
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper until combined. Form into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and let them rest.
- Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat and brown the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Sauté until translucent, then sprinkle flour over the onions and stir for 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream to create a rich gravy, stirring continuously.
- Place the browned patties back into the gravy, ensuring they are submerged.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover the skillet and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Once done, let the skillet rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans for a complete meal. Can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to three months.
