Description
A delicious and comforting baked ziti dish made with Italian sausage, ricotta cheese, and marinara sauce.

- 1 pound Ziti pasta
- 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for topping
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ziti according to package directions until al dente; drain well.
- In a skillet, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, parsley, oregano, and season with salt and pepper.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sausage-marinara sauce, followed by half of the cooked ziti.
- Spread the ricotta mixture over the ziti.
- Top with half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Finish layering with the remaining ziti, sausage-marinara sauce, and mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with extra Parmesan.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Allow the dish to rest before serving for easier slicing. Leftovers taste even better the next day!
